Info

Kosaki, 1989

Centropyge nahackyi also known as Nahacky's angelfish is endemic to Johnston Atoll. In the wild only one times found at Hawaii Islands. It is very similar to C. multicolor an angelfish common in the Marshalls and other central and south Pacific island groups. , differing in color pattern and character state values. It is to be found more on gently sloping outer reef areas devoid of ledges or other vertical relief.

Centropyge nahackyi is dark blue-brown with a bright yellow tail base, abdomen, head and caudal fin; alternating iridescent blue bars interspersed with black on the nape extend posteriorly past the dorsal origin.

Nahacky's angelfish requires a tank with plenty of hiding places and live rock for grazing. The genus Centropyge is prone to nip at clam mantles, stony and soft corals and regrettably, for that matter, Centropyge nahackyi too.

Like other dwarf angels, Centropyge nahackyi are hermaphroditic and indistinguishable in color variations from male to female.

Nahacky's angelfish prefers a variety of small meaty items and live sponges as well as angelfish and herbivore preparations.
