Parasphaerasclera grayi (Thomson & Dean, 1931)
Parasphaerasclera grayi is a small finger-like growing soft coral with large translucent polyps, which on the one hand is said to have a wide distribution in Indo-Pacific, but is difficult to reach for most divers, often living in small groups in caves and shaded overhangs that are difficult to access.
Because this soft coral inhabits low-light regions, it relies on a continuous influx of plankton on which it feeds to provide the energy necessary for growth and reproduction.
The soft corals reproduce sexually, and the planula larvae are displaced by the prevailing current and settle in places that are suitable for them.
