Info
(Pellegrin, 1901)
Very special thanks for the first two photos of Tigrigobius digueti to Dr. Ross Robertson, Australia.
He has taken the photos in Mexico and Panana, where the gobi lives in coral and rocky reefs along rocky shores with deep slopes in a depth of 3 to 30 meters.
This gobi cleans other fishes from ectoparasites!
Similar species: Tigrigobius nesiotes
Synonyms:
Elacatinus digueti (Pellegrin, 1901)
Elacatinus inornatus Bussing, 1990
Gobiosoma brocki Ginsburg, 1938
Gobiosoma digueti Pellegrin, 1901
Classification: Biota > Animalia (Kingdom) > Chordata (Phylum) > Vertebrata (Subphylum) > Gnathostomata (Superclass) > Pisces (Superclass) > Actinopterygii (Class) > Perciformes (Order) > Gobiidae (Family) > Gobiinae (Subfamily) > Tigrigobius (Genus) > Tigrigobius digueti (Species)
Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
