Info
Mysis are also known as mysidacea or glass crabs, because they represent an order of crustaceans.
They reach a size from approx. 0.3 to 2.5 cm and are an excellent food for different sized fish, larger invertebrates, sea horses and sea anemones.
These shrimps are also caught, for example, in in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, and oneself can even can catch these critters very well with a net or with a fine meshed or a finely woven Ketcher, because they also reside in swarms near to the coast.
As part of the zooplankton, Mysida are an important food for fish. As a filter they feed on smallest organic particles and organisms, some species graze off the algae vegetation on the hard ground or on larger plants. Some species also feed on zooplankton and catch other smaller types of crustaceans such ostracods or molluscs using their scissors.
