For those interested, Pseudochromis luteus is not on the stock list even at DeJong Marine Life (as of 9/16/2023).

Dr. Hiroyuki Tanaka has successfully kept the dwarf perch, which is native to Japanese waters, and we thank him for the use of his photo of a live male.

The namesake "purple tail" is most visually apparent in females!
FishBase refers to the color "yellow" being more visible on the caudal fin of males.

Special note: protogynous hermaphroditism!
