Huenia grandidierii A. Milne-Edwards, 1865
Note in advance:
The genus "Huenia" is used to refer to a family of crabs (Epialtidae) on the one hand and a family of silkweed plants on the other.
The small spider crab has a smooth, flattened and slightly quadrangular carapace.
The first description of the species in the "Description de quelques Crustacés nouveaux " of the French ornithologist, crustaceologist and naturalist Alphonse Milne-Edwards (* 13. 10. 1835 in Paris; † 21.4.1900) was based on museum specimens, therefore no information on water depth or water temperature is recorded here.
In the paper "The Decapoda Brachyura of the Siboga Expedition" there is an indication of 1 - 2 meters depth from Kenyan waters on page 77.
Reports about the biology of this small spider crab are very rare.
