Info

Nucleolaria nucleus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Nucleolaria nucleus occurs in a variety of atoll habitats, including under rocks on the tidal reef.
It is found under rocks on shallow subtidal lagoon reefs and under large boulders on shallow lagoon towers

The kauri is also often seen at night in the hollows of surf channels on the leeward seaward reef, especially on the shallower rock ledges near the tops of the reefs.
Snails are also not uncommon on the windward reef under boulders on the hard reef surface.
As an omnivore, the snail always does well in the sea.
This species has the most granulated surface of cowries.
