Info

Thranita prymna (Herbst, 1803)

Portunidae is a family of crabs which contains the swimming crabs. Portunid crabs are characterised by the flattening of the fifth pair of legs into broad paddles, which are used for swimming.[2] This ability, together with their strong, sharp claws, allows many species to be fast and aggressive predators.

Thranita prymna is greenish or bluish-brown in color with blue sonies, with two spots on the carapace.

Host of parasite:
Host/prey of Diplothylacus thalamitae Høeg & Lützen
Host/prey of Heterosaccus ruginosus Boschma, 1931
Host/prey of Loxothylacus kossmanni Boschma, 1955
