Peristernia chlorostoma is commonly found under rocks on many reefs near the sea, in lagoons and on rocky ledges, in corals and rocky reefs from the intertidal zone to a depth of at least 20 meters.

The shell snail is cream colored with varying amounts of brown, the shell opening is yellow.
The snail has a varied prey spectrum from tubeworms to sea squirts and hydrozoans.
