Nucella canaliculata (Duclos, 1832)

Nucella canaliculata is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Muricidae, the murex snails or rock snails. The Dog Winkle feeding on barnacles (Semibalanus cariosus) and mussels, but also feeds on carrion.

The animal has a horny operculum. Nucella canaliculata has no frilly lamellae. Similar to Nucella lamellosa and Nucella ostrina.

As a formidable predator, this snail is not suitable for aquariums.
