Haustrum scobina (Quoy & Gaimard, 1833)

Haustrum scobina is a species of predatory sea snail in the family Muricidae, the murex snails. This species is a predator, feeds mainly on oysters - commonly known as The Oyster Borer.

Can be found in inter-tidal zones. Oyster borers use a mucous layer that surrounds the entrance to their shell.
