Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Amphiprion biaculeatus 2 are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Amphiprion biaculeatus 2, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Amphiprion biaculeatus 2, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Our thanks for the photo of this special clownfish Amphiprion biaculeatus "Gold Nugget Maroon Clownfish" goes to Soren Hansen from Sea & Reef Aquaculture.
This clownfish is said to reach about a size of 15 cm.

The Gold Nugget Maroon Clownfish is a designer clownfish and a variation of the Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish.
Instead of three gold stripes, the Gold Nugget Maroon has a solid gold body color.
The face and fins show a deep brown color.
The golden color permeates the base of each fin and is almost entirely present in the dorsal fin (anterior upper fin).
The most notable characteristic of the Gold Nugget Maroon Clown is that the spot is white at first and only later acquires the golden color.

The sale of designer clownfish helps with the costly breeding attempts of other marine fish that are now impossible or difficult to breed because of the higher returns.

According to Sea and Reef Aquaculture, they accept the following sea anemones:
Entacmaea quadricolor
