Maritigrella eschara is one of Hawaiii's most beautiful flatworms, also occurs in the Indo-Pacific. The genus name Maritigrella, meaning "tiger of the sea", reflects the pattern of transverse lines.
Found singly or in pairs on coral and rocky reefs on sand or rubble. Maritigrella eschara, commonly known as the Scarred flatworm feeds on ascidians.
